Cedarwood Essential Oil - Atlas

Cedarwood Atlas is closely related to the biblical Cedar of Lebanon.  Its properties have been honored for centuries. Cedar was used by all the ancient civilizations in medicine, cosmetics and perfumery, and by the Egyptians in the embalming procedure.

The extraction method of cedarwood essential oil is by steam distillation of the wood. The essential oil is a light golden yellow with a slight oily feeling.

Some sources report that cedarwood essential oil is a powerful antiseptic, used particularly for bronchial and urinary tract infections. Cedarwood is often used in skincare as an astringent, making it a valuable treatment in acne.  Many men's products contain cedarwood essential oil due to its woodsy, "masculine" scent.

INTERESTING FACTS:  Cedar is used for making storage chests due to the fact that its scent repells termites, ants, moths and other harmful insects.
