Clary Sage Essential Oil

Clary Sage essential oil is used in aromatherapy in preference to Sage (Salvia officinalis).  Regular sage presents a toxicity risk due to its high levels of thujone in the oil.  Clary Sage makes a wonderful substitute while still having some of the same good benefits of Sage.

Clary Sage has also been called the "woman's helper" and is good for easing the pain of menstrual cramps and, due to its mimic of hormones, often aids in the problems that arise during menopause.

Essential oil of clary sage has many emotional benefits.  It is said to work on:  depression, nervous tension, panic attacks, migraines, stress and fear.  Taking into consideration the emotional benefits, it also works well on PMS.

One should use clary sage with caution during pregnancy.  Additionally, do not use while consuming alcohol as the clary sage may create a narcotic effective.

Clary Sage has also been used for excessive sweating.  Once again, this may be wonderful for women going through menopause during times of hot flashes.  It has been reported that it could be helpful to people with HIV or AIDS for the symptoms of night sweats.

INTERESTING FACTS:  Clary Sage used to be called Muscatel Sage in Germany and was used unsafely to adulterate wine.
